This week has been crazy. I’m currently in Cleveland for my grandparents’ 50th anniversary. I’m glad to get to celebrate with them, but I wish I could stay for longer than the 24 hours that I’ll be there. Unfortunately, the busyness that I faced this week will not subside as we enter this next week.
The best thing that I did this last week was go to the 36th annual Vernon C. Schranz Distinguished Lecturer event. Robert Hoopes of VOX Media was the presenter. His presentation really hit home for me. He worked in Washington, D.C., which is something that I really want to do. Hoopes then founded his own communications company which is now one of the largest in the country. My team for Cardinal Comm got to talk with Hoopes a little bit after his presentation. We were busy live-tweeting the entire event from the CC Twitter account (@cardinalcomm). That was my first live-tweeting experience and it was successful!
I also gave a speech about an app that removes ads from online services like YouTube and Spotify on Thursday. That was an interesting experience. Our group had conflicting schedules, so getting together to work was sometimes difficult. We always figured a way to meet, but it was tough! Now I know that the next time I have to give a group speech, we need to meet a lot, far in advance.
