Every year for the last sixteen years, Pantone has declared one lucky colors its “Color of the Year.” This leads to a plethora of makeup, clothing, interior design pieces and more that are created in the special color. In other words, the spotlight really shines on the color chosen by Pantone.
This year’s color is Marsala, an earthy pinky-brown color. It’s a lot more subtle than the bright, jewel tones that have been featured in years prior, like Emerald and Tangerine Tango. Marsala is an easy-to-use color for almost any purpose – in makeup it creates an interesting but safe scheme, and in design, it’s also a less-daring choice while remaining chic and feminine. The Logo Design Guru blog thinks that they’ve cracked the code and figured out how to predict the color of the year, and they think it’s going to be another deep, jewel tone for 2016. Read more here.
