My birthday cake (or should I say birthday tart) last week was an almond-blueberry tart from Whole Foods. It was wonderfully delicious, and made me realize that if anything has the essence of almond to it, I’m automatically drawn to it. The Starbucks Tiramisu latte, for example. While it’s a bit too sweet for me, the nuttiness of the latte draws me in and almost makes me want to ask for it without so much milk. I love Amaretti di Saronno cookies – I remember when my mom used to buy them and she’d almost have to hide them or else my dad and I would eat them all. But I think that my favorite way to eat almonds is in dessert – in pies, tarts, cakes – you name it.
