I’m the kind of person who likes to know what’s going on. I wouldn’t call myself nosey, but I like to be up to date on whatever is happening around me. I’ve been a college student for six weeks, and for some reason, I can’t stop looking up internships and jobs. I am so excited to be able to gain experience in my field that I’m getting ahead of myself.
After looking at Bon Appétit, Food Network, Food and Wine, Rachael Ray Magazine and Indianapolis Monthly internship and job openings, I’ve decided that, as of now, I really want to do something with food. I know that I don’t have the skills to be a professional chef, but I love food with all my heart. Food, along with music, is one of the things that I am most passionate about. Why? Because it makes people happy and brings people together. I know that I’d be more likely to participate and show up to something (especially as a poor college student) if food was promised. I love cooking recipes that I find online, as well as experimenting on my own. Unfortunately, my dorm-living situation doesn’t allow for me to do that easily, so I resort to easy snacks.
If I was able to be in a position where I could combine my interests in food and design, I would be in heaven. A position where I could be published online would be amazing. The idea of being the web editor for a publication like Bon Appétit or even a local magazine is amazing to me. I want a position where I can use my love of food, but also incorporate other things that are correlated with food–fashion, travel, leisure.
